Please join us for a special Lenten Retreat with Fr. Parker Sandoval. Fr. Parker was ordained in 2015, in the same class as SLM’s own Fr. Jon Meyer. Last August, Archbishop Gomez announced Fr. Parker as the new Vice Chancellor and Senior Director of Ministerial Services for the Archdiocese. He has hosted many retreats and this will be a wonderful opportunity to do something to enhance your Lenten experience. The retreat, “Back to the Gospel Basics,” will commence with Fr. Parker preaching at all Masses the weekend of February 27-28. Then two days of Zoom sessions, Monday March 1st & 2nd.

They say it never rains in California, but from time to time weather issues may have an impact on outdoor Mass at St. Lawrence. When these events occur, we will follow these general practices: Sunday and Daily Mass: Msgr. Paul, the priests, deacons and staff will communicate on the situation and make a call based on current and forecasted weather conditions.
Archbishop Gomez reminded us that racism is “a blasphemy against God, who creates all men and women with equal dignity. It has no place in a civilized society and no place in a Christian heart.” We must treat one another with dignity, compassion, love and respect, as children of God, regardless of race, language, or country of origin. We must follow God’s commandment to love one another as he loves us. As an Archdiocese, we stand committed to continuing to work to end racial injustice in our society and promote peaceful dialogue, discourse and understanding on race and social justice.
As you may have heard or seen in the news, the State of California has allowed Churches to reopen for indoor services. In his letter of December 21, 2020, Archbishop José H. Gomez noted that while we can go inside, it will be safer to continue celebrating outdoor Masses. Likewise, Los Angeles County Public Health strongly recommends that places of worship continue to hold services outdoors. While we welcome this news, we are also conscious of the current dire circumstances caused by the rampant spread of the coronavirus especially in Southern California. We live in an epicenter.
