We bless you and thank you for taking our love into your hands. Come into our lives and help us to fulfill our mission of love. Guide us to form our children to become witnesses of your love in our family and in the community. Give us strength to face our setbacks and be ever with us to share our joys. • Every marriage goes through ups and downs. Take time as a couple to name and appreciate how your spouse contributed to a high moment you had together in the last year, and to identify simple but meaningful ways you can prepare together for the next stage of your life together.
• Make a family visit to—or invite for dinner—a long-married couple from your relatives and friends. Ask them “what is your secret for staying together?” Encourage your children to ask them about the joys they have found in a lifetime together and how they overcame the hard times.
• The definition of marriage is on the ballot in California this year. Review and discuss as a couple the insights from Catholic Social Teaching on this topic before you vote.
